A New Year
I can’t believe that all of this started with a dream.
About five years ago, I had this dream to write a book that wouldn’t go away. So, I stopped fighting it and followed. Carefully. Slowly. But, never stopping. And, here I am in 2016, a published author with a growing list of works.
You would think that with so many wonderful and exciting things happening to me right now, I would be ready to whoop it up and embrace the new year with open arms.
2016 came in quietly for me. Basically, I fell asleep on the couch waiting for the ball to drop somewhere around 11:45 pm and missed it. My family was kind enough to take their celebration into the next room.
I know, it’s sad. It’s not at all how one imagines bringing in the new year, but that’s pretty much how it went down. I was woken up about 12:05 am. I mumbled a “Happy New Year” and retreated to my bed. The next morning, I felt little disappointed, but…
Here’s the thing:
I’m not going to let my lack luster New Year’s dictate the rest of my year. In fact, I believe that falling asleep was exactly what I needed considering I spent most of the day negotiating with my characters.
You see, lately, I’ve been writing… a lot. I’m currently working on book two in The Strega Series, and let me tell you that, although production is moving slower than I anticipated, Kate and Gio have been keeping me up at all hours as they hunt down Alessandro. And Alessandro, well hell, that guy never goes quietly.
I’ve also been working on an adaptation of Missy Turner’s The Push. This sci-fi detective story brings together action, mystery, romance, and time travel. Draft one is complete. I’m so excited about being a part of it. If you haven’t read it, I definitely recommend.
In addition, I’ve taken on a project with ThemeParkology, a documentary film production company that focuses on domestic theme parks and attractions. My assignment, at the moment, is confidential, but as soon as I get the green light to discuss it, you’ll be the first ones to know.
So, between, my gypsies, film projects and other creative endeavors, it’s no wonder I fell asleep! But that’s A-Okay with me because later that night….I dreamed.
